"We're a theme based experience that gives the audience a chance to participate in the ultimate flashback in time."
The One Soul Journey is a solo project by singer-songwriter Randy Melton. It pays homage to U.S. black music-culture spanning the last 50+ years. Journeying back to the early days of call and response music, to the birthing of Gospel, Jazz, R&B, and Soul. Accompanied by pianist Bojan Perko, audiences will take a journey through the late 50s, 60s, 70s and some of the 80s.
Anyone can sit at home and listen to a cd or stream music but The One Soul Journey is all about the experience. We want audiences to be moved by the music that they’re hearing and to become more than just an audience member but becoming a member of the band. For some, that’s singing and dancing along to the music and for others it’s providing call and response to a song you know and love.
One thing is for certain, you’ll love the journey your soul is on.

I remember hearing this song sung by Ray Charles for the first time in my youth and thinking how I could hear the strings underlining his smooth voice and wanting to sing just like him.
Tickling the ivories to the song Stormy Monday. Gospel has been the base of the African American music experience. Since slavery the beats and soul of American music has been infused in some way by it. Whether it be R&B, Jazz, Soul, Swing, Hip Hop, Rap, Funk or Big Band, the raw emotion of its style has played an integral part in American discography.
